Note:
This is a "Dyna S" pointless ignition, and timing is the same.
The "F" mark is also used for static timing. Whatever the F
stands for (fire?), this is when the engine is designed to send current from
the coils to the plugs AT IDLE.**

Open the points cover, start the bike and let it warm up. Loosen the three Phillips screws at the outer edge of the points plate (Not too loose). At idle speed (850 to 1000 depending on the model), while shinning the timing strobe into this view, rotate the points plate (clockwise to retard, counter-clockwise to advance), until... |

Raise the rpms to 2500-3000, and check to see the advance marks** (the double marks next to the 4) align. |

Tighten the three screws holding the points plate, remove the positive lead of the timing light from the battery, (YOU'RE DONE) put the points cover back. I highly suggest shutting down the engine before removing the plug lead (haha), you're ready to ride! |
