I use a pair of 14in. Channel-lock pliers to unscrew the slider retaining
ring. This takes very little force. I suggest trying to do this by
hand first, and then with heavy clothe, or even leather...marking the outside of
the carburetor is a concern, but truly, the important part is not to get the
carb or ring out of round. Don't squeeze hard. You might even want
to hold the pliers near the pivot bolt so not to use much force. Get
it!!! Then pull the slider cylinder out. Be careful not to bend or
damage the jet needle on the other end (inside). Lay it all out
neatly.
This is pretty self explanatory, but...

Popping the bowl retaining spring off these things take a good bit of force and they do pop. Remember the carbs are not separated yet. You can set the bowl ends of the carburetors on the flat side of a 1x2 or 2x2 for a better angle. I use small pieces of wood in many instances through out the procedure.
Saving the bowl gasket...if possible.
(Left) Carefully pry up the
gasket with a small screwdriver, and work the gasket out. Notice, I move
the bowl retaining spring out of the way as I work. Rub a thin film of
motor oil on each side of the gaskets. If they dry out, they can shrink.
