I got my SuperSport in 2000 and after fixin' it up, I rode it for three of four month with the original header on it. I decided to remove it and put a MAC header on.....specifically to save the original header from further damage. It was in questionable condition, so it's been on a shelf to the last 5 or 6 years. Now I'm moving to a new city and it was either time to do something about the header, or throw it away.
Here's a before photo

I took the header to:
Astro Plating

I dropped it off with the clamps on. I felt that mostly I just wanted to save the header, and that I could do any detail work later. They removed the clamps and chromed them seperately. |
| Normally, they want the header taken apart. They can do a better job that way, but I was in a rush because I'm moving and as I mentioned above......Astro Plating will take shipments, but you need to call them first. | |

This is the dent on the front of #4. I talked to a shop about brazing it and they quoted me $90.....not at this time. It can be done later. |
| As they cleaned
the header, they found rust that made holes, they used lead to repair
these spots. If you want the utmost performance, this might
restrict the air-flow a minor amount, but this isn't the header you'd
really want to use for high performance, anyway.
I'm pleased. Another spot shown below. |
