Richard's CB750K - Dressed and ready for the highway!
Let me start by saying I am 51 years old and have ridden motorcycles since I was 15. Mostly Harleys, I rode their smaller imported Italian models, the M50, M56, 125, 175, 250 and 350 sprints. I live in a rural area and the dealer was within walking distance, and I actually worked there for a couple of years as a wrench, but they went out of business around 1980.
I bought this bike in 1990 for $600 and just rode around, close to home for a couple of years. It was pure stock and only had 6000 miles on it. I knew from the "Harley brain washing" school, that I could never trust it, and it ended up parked in my garage for eight years collecting dust. I can't remember why I parked it, just too busy with life, I guess.
Two years ago, I drug it out and decided to get it running again. The carbs were stuck so bad, it took two weeks of soaking with WD-40 to free the slides. With a good cleaning, new tires, chain and sprockets, it was road worthy again. I added the windshield and tour pack, and now the wife and I venture out, whenever we get the chance. There is still that nagging little voice in the back of my head that says, "You know you can't trust that Japanese junk," but I'm longing for a Goldwing. -later-
