Because of the general unwillingness among Vietnam veteran artists to express a personal view about the political rights and wrongs of war, the word oriented art so common in post modernism, Juxtaposing text and image, is largely absent from their work. Those who use this approach do so very effectively, especially on an intimate scale! The greeting cards of Stephen Ham are brief, but eloquent personal statements. Anthony F. Janson |
