Here's my new bike! A 1977 GL1000 Goldwing. Hey - this IS a sohc4 so I guess it can go in here just fine, eh? Don't even think I'm givin' up my 'ol trusty, you can see it in the background! Now I've got two "life long" bikes with "bulletproof" engines, and after puttin' 20k miles on my '76F (now at 55k), I believe when they say bulletproof, they mean it. This one's got 50k miles, and I found it in nearby Seguin, Tx only 35 miles away. I figure $1800 is a good price considering it's nearly cherry. The 'ol fart that sold it to me (good guy) is a retired aircraft mechanic that buys trashed goldwings and parts them out, a hobby he says. Every once and a while he'll find one that just needs a little work to be great, and he sells it. This one needed mostly, a carb rebuild. Poor guy that had it before, gave up, I guess. It also had a DynaS pointless ignition. So does my 836F.

I will be photographing technical procedures on this bike, too, but it won't be as extensive as the CB due to the fact that this bike is in much better shape than the other one was when I got it. There are though, some things I'll be doing right off the bat, or real soon, like a valve adjustment and other tuning checks. |

The weak points? The tank is faded on the top, which you can sort'a see in the top photo, the faring's a bit tattered. Hell, that's about it. Oh - and the rear brake pads and some little gaskets that go between the mufflers and the headers. Even the Dunlops are new. |
