Removing the triple tree.                    Page 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7

Before loosening the bottom triple clamp, I placed a crate under the ends of the fork so it wouldn't drop out.  They are fairly heavy.  The bolt is 14mm, and very tight.

Alright!  The forks are out and moved to the side.  You can now remove the headlight ears.

(Above) I supported the triple-tree with a board before undoing its tension head cap.  My reason for this is because I want to make sure there is no stress near the end of the treads.  That can lead to a real hassle and cross-threading.  Again I used my half inch cold chisel to remove the tension cap.

The bottom of the triple-tree and stem should come out with minimal force.  The bottom bearing is pressed into place and remains with the tree, and you can also see a retainer that sets just under the top bearing came out too.
